Gentle Yoga
We offer Beginner Yoga, which is a great introduction to sun salutations and postures, incorporating balance to the mind and body. This is a slower pace yoga and involves a lot of stretching. Recommended for those new to yoga and those with special needs.
Vinyasa
One of our more popular classes is the Vinyasa which is a flowing yoga class that connects breath with posture. This class is designed to build strength, flexibility, balance, and focus. This is a faster pace and more traditional form of yoga utilizing sun salutations, warrior series, etc.
Restorative Yoga
This type of yoga uses props such as bolsters , blankets, and blocks to help with the asanas/poses. The poses are held for several minutes so to avoid straining the muscles and joints props are used to make these poses more relaxing. This is a good class to work on meditation and practice ojai/yoga breathing.
YIN
This type of yoga targets the connective tissues of the body such as joints, bones, and ligaments. Hence, Yin is called yoga for the joints while Yang yoga is yoga for the muscles. The poses or asanas in Yin yoga restores the connective tissues that the more traditional yang asanas cannot reach. Initially Yin might seem boring because the asanas are held for several minutes to allow the pose to penetrate deeper into the tissues. However this also makes the practice of yin quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. Unless you practice yin yoga you are only doing half of your asana practice. Yin complements the dynamic and more muscular (Yang ) practice of yoga.
Hot Yoga
We also have Hot Yoga which is a heated yoga class guaranteed to make you sweat and release your toxins. Great for weight loss and increasing your flexibility and strength. Please bring a bottle of water and a towel for this class.
Hatha Yoga
This is probably the most common and popular yoga practice in the west. Hatha attempts to achieve the balance of mind and body by combining different yoga postures (asanas) with breathing techniques (pranayama) to keep oxygen flowing through the body while attempting the different yoga poses. Hence, Hatha yoga is known as the branch of yoga that unites pairs of opposites, referring "ha" to the sun (positive) and "tha", the moon (negative).
Yoga Boot Camp
This yoga practice is design for those who are looking for a cardio and toning workout. We incorporate a very fast paced Vinyasa flow to increase our heart rate and burn fat with holding balancing poses for several minutes to work large muscle groups and increase metabolism. Students will leave the studio feeling very much invigorated but also relaxed. Warning: Sweating is inevitable.
Yogalates
This class is a combination of both Yoga and Pilates. This class brings the focus of stability and core strength from Pilates and it brings the focus of improvement of flexibility and strength from Yoga all into one class. If you need a good workout and tone your problem areas, this is the class for you.
Beginner Yoga
This class is ideal for those with no yoga experience and those who had been practicing without proper yoga instructions. The student will be introduced to proper yoga breathing technique during practice. Emphasis will be put on correct form and alignment in the execution of the different Asanas or Yoga poses. This will be a slow class with some stretches thrown in between instructions. Meditation is also a huge part of this class.
